Rec & Sport Club Weekly Recap
Fencing – Kutztown hosted the Open Foil Tournament this past Saturday which included teams from West Chester, Lehigh, and Shippensburg. One of Kutztown’s seniors and president, Hayden Falenwolfe, took the silver in the final bracket. Kutztown’s team is very proud of their success in this tournament.
Men’s Rugby – KU’s team fought a great fight against the falcons of Notre Dame College, but fell defeated with a final score of 44-38 to finish out their fall season. Their final record is 6-3, and the team is eager to prepare and come back stronger than ever for their spring season.
Ice Hockey – The Golden Bears took a loss against the Nittany Lions from Harrisburg. The game ended with a 9-3 score, making their overall record 2-8. The team hopes to recover from being down a few players, and prepare for their two league games next weekend.
Ultimate Frisbee – The Kutztown team traveled to East Stroudsburg University this weekend for their Home Ultimate Tournament. There were 10 teams total competing in the tournament, with 4 games of pool play to calculate seeding, ending with a single elimination bracket to determine the winner. KU’s team played in a total of 5 games, and came out the victors against the ESU Alumni team with a score of 11-8. Christopher Green was the MVP winner for this tournament because of his strong offensive skills by catching a great deal of continuation passes to help move that disc up the field to score.
Women’s Rugby – KU advanced to the MARC Championship and fought a tough battle against the Huskies of Bloomsburg University, but fell short in the end with a 10-0 score.
Equestrian – KU attended this weekend’s Lafayette College English Host Show and had a very successful day to end their fall season of English style riding. The overall team placed 4th for the day but were very close to the bronze. They are eager to prepare for their Western shows.
Intramurals & Special Events
3-on-3 Basketball Tournament – 12 teams competed in the single elimination tournament on Wednesday, November 1st in the Student Recreation Center. The championship team took home the coveted Intramural championship t-shirts.
IM Flag-Football (Monday/Wednesday League) – 3rd seeded “F.3.A.R.” took on the 4th seeded “Jordan’s a Potato” in the championship on Monday evening in the stadium. “F.3.A.R.” had a 14-13 lead at half-time and pulled away in the second half for a 39-21 victory. They finished the regular season with a 6-1 record and will take on the champions of the Tuesday/Thursday league next Wednesday, November 15th for the overall championship.
IM Volleyball (Tuesday/Thursday League) – Top seeded “Nothing but Net” took home the Tuesday/Thursday Intramural volleyball championship pictured below. After losing the first set, the team regrouped to take the final sets to win the championship. They will move on to take on the champions from the Monday/Wednesday league on Tuesday, November 14th for the overall championship.
